Happy Father's Day!
Here's a tutorial on my favorite 'father inspired' skirt!

I knew how long I wanted my finished skirt to be,
so I cut my ties all 2 inches longer than the desired length.

I didn't cut the layers or anything...just sew them together!
I used 32 ties to get around my waist...

I used 32 ties to get around my waist...
it just depends on the width of the tie...
Okay,
for my skirt I put in an invisible zipper, trimmed off excess ties,
and then edged it with double fold bias tape!
Easy, & no one sees the waist band!
For my daughters, I used 3 inch elastic & sewed it right to the ties!

There were two girls at church when I was growing that always wore tie skirts and I though they were so cool! Yours turned out super cute and they don't even look that hard to make :)
These are Very Cute! You are so creative I love it!
what a neat idea... I want one, will have to start collecting ties now!
Oh cute! I'll keep this one in mind!
A fun way to use up some of those surplus ties.
This is such a cute idea! I would love to feature this on Reduce, Reuse, Upcycle. Feel free to stop by and grab a featured button. Thanks!

Hello, I found you through Pinterest. Nice skirts! I've made a tie skirt also. I got the idea from a Robin Jones Gunn book. I opened up each tie & removed the stiff inner lining. It's very light & flowy, but a slip is needed. Yeah, I also received many complements/comments. People just started giving me their old ties and some even found loads of ties from Goodwill. I have well over a hundred now. I'm getting ready to make a new skirt for myself and one for a friend. I love ties! They always catch my eye in the stores. -Rachel
